(First experience of shopping instore)
Raghav was afraid to go to shopping in the morning, so he left in the evening when it
was little dark. He went inside the store and first he asked for Saree. He was little afraid from
inside, but he had a confidence that currently he is in Bangalore and he is very new here,
hence no one will judge him. The salesperson was showing some sarees. The price was a bit
high according to his budget. Raghav’s thought was to buy cheap saree at a good price. He
did not want to spend 1000 rupees on some saree, which he is going to wear rarely.
He asked the shop guy for Some sarees in the range of Rs300/, the shopkeeper asked
why so cheap, Raghav told like Budget problem.
He liked one green saree in kind of transparent material with white floral all over it. He asked the price, the shopkeeper told 280,he selected it. He asked if readymade blouse is available in the shop. The shopkeeper toldyes. He asked what colours are available; the shopkeeper told black, cream, red and golden colour blouses are only available.
Raghav asked for the range of blouses, he told starting from Rs400/. Raghav did not
have choice here, as getting blouses is only difficult and here, he cannot negotiate on the
price. So, he agreed and asked the shopkeeper to show the blouses available. The shopkeeper asked the size. I felt little bit shy for a moment, as if I am a girl and some stranger is asking my bra size. I actually did not know the blouse size of mine; I just used to wear a blouse that is loose in size. But I recalled a conversation that I had with Jancy crossdresser.
I asked her how to measure our size for the ladies’ dresses that we wear. For that
Jancy told, being a male, we cannot ask any tailor to measure our body size for stitching
blouses. It will be awkward for us as well as the tailor. So, keep one thing in mind, before
selecting the blouse sizes and all. First option is to get one trial blouse which exactly and then
giving the material and ask the tailor to stitch as per the blouse size which is a bit
complicated. As they may ask for design and all, we will get stuck there.
So, I would suggest an easy or better option, your bra or blouse size will be exact size
of your vests and panty size will be exact size of your underwear. So, you can decide based
on that. Raghav’s Vest size is 85cm, so he decided to ask the blouse size of 34 which is when converted to inches. Raghav is very quick and accurate in mathematics. He showed some different variety of blouses, Raghav liked each and every model and wanted to buy all those, but he did not have much budget for buying all.
In his mind, he was thinking that he should have born as a girl, so that he could have
demanded to buy all those blouses and wear them as and when he wanted. In many cases,
ladies would be complaining that wearing saree and other ladies’ items will take more time,
but gents are enjoying by wearing shirt and pants, which are easy to wear and remove. On the other hand, there are some men who are complaining that girly dresses are attractive than the boring pants and shirts of men and Raghav is one among them.
After thinking these, Raghav came back to reality. Raghav asked the shopkeeper, why
only these colours are there. Shopkeeper said that these blouses will go matching with any
sarees. Black is the best for any saree, now golden and cream also goes well and red is the
second preferred colour after black. Raghav understood the reason behind it. Now, Raghav
asked suggestion from Shopkeeper which colour will go well with it. Shopkeeper suggested
cream is the best choice for the saree selected.
Raghav also had same choice in mind and he immediately choose that only. He asked
the shopkeeper to show the hooks, whether it is in good condition or not. It looked perfectly
stitched. He told ok and then he asked some suggestion for petticoat or inskirt. The
shopkeeper did not understand the term Petticoat, then he told inskirt, then he understood, for that also he asked suggestion and shopkeeper told, Cream colour or green colour or white will go well with this saree. He was against green or cream and decided to go with white colour as he liked petticoats in that colour and it was commonly used by most of women in his area, as he has seen them hanging in cloth drying area of his locality.
He told it costs around Rs150 and then he asked for a set of bra and panty of the same
size 34 as he has mentioned the size of blouse. He selected black bra and black panty. He did not think much on it. It cost Rs100/. Overall, the bill came to Rs930, he negotiated with skills and reduced to Rs900/, he told the shopkeeper thanks for helping him and if he finds the clothes are of good quality, the next time also help come to purchase in the same shop only.
