The rhythmic tinkling of anklets filled the air. The soft clinking of clay bangles brought a soothing melody to the ears.

"Amma... Amma..."

A loving voice called out.

Janakamma, who was sitting quietly in the prayer room, looked up.

Holding a flower basket in one hand and lifting her silk skirt slightly with the other, making the anklets sing with every step, the figure came and stood before her.

"Amma... It's me, Amma. It's Suma. Come, let us perform the vratam (holy ritual) together."

The voice was sweet and gentle.

Before her stood a mesmerizing vision.

Beautiful reddish feet like lotus petals.

Delicate silver anklets adorning them.

A blue silk saree.

A deep navel enhancing the beauty of a graceful waist.

A blue silk saree flowed like a stream from above, curving around the waist, draping over the hips, and returning the rest into beautiful pleats.

Above it was a graceful feminine form.

A gold chain adorned the neck.

A round, attractive face.

A carefully placed bindi.

Dark kajal-lined eyes.

Eyebrows curved like Cupid's bow.

Thick hair falling neatly to the shoulders.

Janakamma's eyes sparkled like flashes of lightning emerging from monsoon clouds.

With overflowing joy she whispered,

"My child... Surekha!"

"No, Amma... it's me... Suma."

Tears of happiness filled Janakamma's eyes.

For a moment, her mind drifted into the past.

Dear Chelli, Meghana, your translation is very beautiful. It looks as if it were original by itself. I have the story sequence very clearly in my mind. But due to to some work pressure I could not write immediately.

Dear Akka, I'm really thankful to you for your wonderful contributions to this site. The moment when I read your original story Aadamanasu, somehow it deeply connected to me. Today literally I took a day off and worked on the story. Thank you once again.. you please continue writing the remaining story and I will try my best to translate it.
