Chapter 5: The Shopping Expedition
The preparation began the very next moment with a military-style operation. Kamal and Vandana sat down with the girls to draw up a massive, exhaustive list, while Rajas sat in the corner of the sofa, looking like a prisoner awaiting sentence.
"Right," Kamal said, handing a thick stack of rupee notes to Ria. "You and Ira take the afternoon state transport bus to the big district market town. Don't buy anything from our local market; people will start asking questions. Go to the big plazas. Buy everything the new girl will need from scratch."
The girls didn't need to be told twice. By afternoon, Ira and Ria were tearing through the bustling, multi-story markets of the nearby city, fueled by pure excitement and a highly specific mission.
Their shopping carts quickly filled with the absolute essentials of womanhood: packets of soft bras, seamless panties, a massive professional makeup kit, sparkling earrings, nose rings and traditional Maharashtrian naths, rows of colorful glass bangles, artificial traditional necklaces, bindis of every size, and a high-quality, long-haired wig. They moved to the clothing sections, picking out daily-wear salwars, vibrant Punjabi dresses, matching stoles, and flowy dupattas.
But the real fun was yet to happen.
"Look at this," Ira whispered mischievously, pulling Ria into a high-end lingerie boutique. With a wicked grin, Ira purchased a pair of realistic, weighted silicone breast forms. "For perfection," Ira winked. "And, of course, for our personal entertainment."
"You are evil, Ira," Ria laughed, completely onboard.
Ira didn't stop there. Slipping away from Ria for a brief moment, she secretly purchased a few stunning, figure-hugging modern hot dresses and a small, mysterious "secret device box" labeled *'For the Perfect Feminine Walk'—a little tool...* she fully intended to use to keep her secret boyfriend, now a would-be girlfriend, completely under her thumb.
Meanwhile, back in the village, Kamal and Vandana visited the traditional handloom stores, quietly collecting soft cotton sarees for Rajas's daily wear at home, along with a couple of heavy, magnificent Nauvari (nine-yard) sarees reserved for the Devi pujas to be performed on first and last day of the Adhik maas.

Chapter 6: The Eve of Transformation
It was around 9 PM when the girls finally returned, hauling heavy bags into Rajas’s house under the cover of darkness. The entire loot was locked securely in Ria’s room.
While the rest of the house finally slept after dinner, Rajas lay wide awake in his bed. The quiet hum of the Konkan crickets outside did nothing to calm his racing thoughts. He stared at the ceiling, his heart pounding. *A Senior Software Engineer. Managing server deployments next week. And tomorrow, I have to learn how to wear a bra, hook the blouse and adjust saree pleats.* The sheer absurdity of it made him want to dissolve into the floor.
Suddenly, his phone buzzed on the nightstand. A private message from Ira.
> **Ira:** *Are you awake, my beautiful bride-to-be?* 👰‍♀️✨

Rajas glared at the screen, his thumbs flying across the keyboard.
> **Rajas:** *I am losing my mind, Ira. This isn't funny. You bought everything. Ria showed me the bags. I can't do this.*

A second later, Ira’s reply popped up, bursting with playful malice.
> **Ira:** *Oh, relax, Rajasi darling. I will always be your shadow, don't worry. Tomorrow morning, the masterclass begins. I've got the makeup, the clothes, and a few special surprises ready just for you. Get some sleep. A lady needs her beauty rest.* 😉❤️

Rajas stared at the word *'Rajasi'* on his screen. He let out a long, defeated sigh, turning off the phone and pulling the blanket over his face.
The quiet coastal night was slipping away, and the morning that awaited him was going to change everything.
