Chapter 10: Vidya Marries Manoj
Meanwhile, Vidya and Manoj went to an old temple outside the city.
They were both frightened, but Vidya had made up her mind.
“I don't want to hurt my family,” she told Manoj, “but I cannot spend my entire life with someone I don't love.”
Manoj held her hand.
“I will never leave you. But we must not take any step that harms your family.”
They spoke to the temple priest and explained their situation.

“We know this is difficult, son. But Vidya hasn't returned, and the wedding is almost here.”
Sagar replied,
“But Dad, I don't want to deceive anyone. Shyam deserves to know the truth.”
Suraj sighed.
“You're right. We will have to make a decision soon.”
Sagar asked,
“Then tell me what will happen on the wedding day.”
Suraj and Roshni looked at each other.
Neither had an answer.

One day, Shyam came to Suraj's house.
He wanted to speak privately with Vidya before the wedding.
Sagar, dressed as Vidya, sat before him.
Shyam said,

Sagar became nervous.
“Shyam, I need to tell you something important.”
“What?”
Sagar's hands trembled.

Shyam stared at him.
“I am Sagar, her brother.”
Shyam was speechless.
Sagar told him everything.
Vidya had left home.

Shyam listened in shock.

Shyam nodded.
“Yes. I want the same.”
They both agreed to marry.

His face was covered by a veil.

The priest began the rituals.
The traditional wedding ceremonies were performed.
Suraj and Roshni performed the kanyadaan ritual, treating Sagar as their daughter.
Sagar and Shyam exchanged garlands.
Then they walked around the sacred fire.
With every round, the priest explained the responsibilities of married life and the importance of mutual respect.
After seven rounds, they promised to support, respect, and stand by each other.
The wedding was complete.

Sonia smiled.

Sagar smiled faintly.

Meanwhile, things were not peaceful in Manoj's home.

Sulochana supported him.
“Don't trouble Vidya. Marriage is not a transaction.”
The argument grew.
Then Manoj's grandmother, Jaya, arrived.
When she learned that Manoj had married Vidya against the family's wishes, she became furious.
“I do not accept this girl as my daughter-in-law,” Jaya declared.
Vidya lowered her head.
Manoj defended her.
“Grandmother, Vidya is my wife. You cannot speak to her like this.”
Sulochana also intervened.
“Mother, what happened has happened. Insulting Vidya will solve nothing.”
But Jaya refused to accept Vidya.
She continued humiliating her.
Manoj held Vidya's hand.
“You are not alone. I am with you.”

Jaya was delighted and accepted Kavita as the family's daughter-in-law.
Vidya was devastated when she learned that Manoj had married Kavita too.
