Chapter 2 — The Night Everything Changed
One evening, Siva went out alone to buy groceries and a few clothes. Near a quieter lane, two young men began following him. Their jokes quickly became insults. When Siva tried to walk away, they blocked his path and grabbed at him.
“Leave me alone,” Siva warned.
They laughed.
The struggle became physical. Siva spotted a wooden stick near a roadside stall and grabbed it only to make them back away. One attacker lunged at him. In the confusion, Siva swung the stick once.
The man fell.
For a second, everything went silent.
The other attacker ran. Siva stood frozen, staring at the man on the ground. A crowd began forming. Someone shouted for an ambulance. Siva, terrified and overwhelmed, ran home instead.
When he reached the room, Madhuri immediately knew something was wrong.
The news spread that night: a young man had died after a street fight.
Siva expected police to arrive at their door.
Then came the first twist. Witnesses had described the dead man's companions as the aggressors, but nobody yet knew who Siva was.
Their fear was not gone. It had only begun.
