Chapter 7 — Harika
Scene 7
Months later, Harika stood before the mirror in a simple black T-shirt and jeans.
Her hair had grown long. Her face carried the calm confidence of someone who had survived a year of silence, an uncertain recovery, and a life-changing mystery.
Priya stood nearby in her green saree.
Harika looked at her reflection and smiled.
“Do you still remember what you promised me?” she asked.
Priya laughed softly. “That I would stay beside you?”
Harika nodded.
“And you did.”
The accident had taken away a year of Hari's life. The unexplained medical changes had forced Harika to confront questions she never expected to face. The missing memories had left gaps that might never be completely filled.
But the ending was no longer frightening.
Harika understood that identity was not a punishment for what happened to her body. It was a personal truth she could explore and define for herself.
Priya took her hand.
Outside, the evening light fell across the balcony.
Harika stepped forward.
She was not walking back into the life she had lost.
She was walking into the life she had chosen.
