Outside, he laughed nervously.
“I thought this would be the most embarrassing thing I've ever done.”
Kavya smiled. “And now?”
“Now I think I was making it much harder in my head.”
That evening, Arjun arranged his purchases neatly in a drawer. They were not gifts from colleagues or symbols of anyone else's expectations. They were his own belongings, chosen for himself.
