Chapter 20 — The Breaking Point
Two years after the wedding, Sowjanya and Arjun sat across from each other in a quiet room.
Their marriage had once begun with love and hope. But the constant conflict, Atha's mistreatment, and Arjun's inability to protect their relationship had slowly destroyed their trust.
Sowjanya had tried to make the marriage work. She had spoken honestly, asked for counseling, and hoped that things would improve.
Arjun admitted that he had failed to stand beside her.
"I thought time would solve everything," he said.
Sowjanya's eyes filled with tears.
"Time cannot heal something when the hurt keeps happening."
They decided to divorce.
The legal process was painful. When the papers were finally signed, Sowjanya felt as though a chapter of her life had closed forever.
She wore a simple blue saree. Her long dark hair was tied in a low braid, and her expression showed both grief and determination.
Arjun looked at her.
"I am sorry," he whispered.
Sowjanya nodded.
"I hope you learn to protect the people you love."
She left the room carrying a small bag and the knowledge that she had chosen her own safety.
The road ahead was uncertain, but she was finally free to walk it.
