Part 2

Work. Home. Her - Unveiled Realities" - Arc II

Screenplay: Workplace Gossip and HR Escalation

---

SCENE 1: INT. CORPORATE OFFICE – OPEN WORKSPACE
(The office is buzzing with whispers and furtive glances. Groups of employees huddle in clusters, their faces a mix of shock, curiosity, and amusement. The camera pans over desks, catching snippets of conversation as people talk about the previous day’s meeting.)

COLLEAGUE 1 (WOMAN)
Did you see Madhu? I mean…he looked like a proper South Indian housewife!

COLLEAGUE 2 (WOMAN)
(frowning)
Proper? He looked better than most of us in a saree. His makeup, the braid…even the jewelry!

COLLEAGUE 3 (MAN)
(smirking)
Yeah, I mean, who spends that much effort just for themselves? You think he’s…you know…dating someone? Maybe a guy?

COLLEAGUE 1
(giggling)
Maybe. I mean, why else would he dress like that?

COLLEAGUE 4 (WOMAN)
(snapping)
Why does it matter? Madhu’s personal life isn’t our business.

COLLEAGUE 3
(shrugs)
It’s not every day you see your assistant manager in a saree, walking around like…like it’s normal.

---

SCENE 2: INT. PANTRY ROOM – MIDDAY
(A group of women sits at the pantry table, sipping tea and talking animatedly. The camera focuses on their expressions as they switch between curiosity and judgment.)

WOMAN 1
Did you see his saree? The pleats were perfect. Even I can’t drape a saree like that.

WOMAN 2
(rolling her eyes)
Exactly! And that low-cut blouse? It was so…revealing. He must have done it for attention.

WOMAN 3
(defensive)
Or maybe that’s just how he wanted to express himself. Why are we judging him?

WOMAN 2
Come on. You can’t tell me you didn’t feel a little…jealous. He looked more feminine than half of us.

WOMAN 1
(sighing)
I won’t lie. His makeup was flawless. And that braid…ugh, I wish I could do my hair like that.

---

SCENE 3: INT. MEN’S RESTROOM – LATER
(A group of men stands near the sink, laughing and exchanging conspiratorial looks.)

MAN 1
So…what do you think? Is Madhu transitioning?

MAN 2
(shrugging)
Who knows? Maybe he’s already had surgery. You saw how slim his waist looked, right?

MAN 3
(grinning)
Or maybe it’s all padding. You know, those body-shaping things.

MAN 1
(mocking tone)
Imagine walking around the house in heels and a saree. What’s he trying to prove?

MAN 2
(thoughtfully)
You’ve got to admit, though—he looked…HOT & graceful. Almost like it wasn’t his first time.

MAN 3
(laughing)
Maybe he’s practicing for a wedding. His own, with some guy.

(They burst into laughter, their voices echoing off the tiled walls.)

---

SCENE 4: INT. MEETING ROOM – LUNCH BREAK
(A smaller group of employees sits at a table, discussing the incident in hushed tones. Priya joins them, her expression neutral but her body language defensive.)

EMPLOYEE 1 (WOMAN)
You know, for all the talk, Madhu is still one of the best leaders we have. He’s always calm under pressure.

EMPLOYEE 2 (MAN)
(nodding)
Yeah, he’s sharp. Yesterday’s presentation was spot on, even with…everything.

EMPLOYEE 3 (WOMAN)
(hesitant)
I agree, but…how do we move forward from this? Can we even look at him the same way?

PRIYA
(firmly)
Why not? Madhu’s personal choices don’t change his capabilities. He’s still the same person we’ve always worked with.

EMPLOYEE 4 (WOMAN)
(quietly)
I just hope this doesn’t escalate. People can be cruel.

---

SCENE 5: INT. CORPORATE OFFICE – PRIYA’S DESK
(Priya scrolls through Slack messages on her computer. Several private messages from team members pop up, ranging from concerned to gossipy.)

MESSAGE 1:
"Is Madhu okay? Should we check on him?"

MESSAGE 2:
"Do you think HR will step in? This can’t be ignored."

MESSAGE 3:
"I heard Madhu’s been living like this for a while. Is it true?"

(Priya rubs her temples, frustrated. She glances over at Ravi, who’s standing nearby, looking conflicted.)

PRIYA
Ravi, do me a favor. Stop fueling the gossip.

RAVI
(defensive)
I didn’t start it! People are just…curious.

PRIYA
Curiosity doesn’t justify invading someone’s privacy.

---

SCENE 6: INT. HR OFFICE – AFTERNOON
(Vidya, the HR manager, sits at her desk, reviewing emails and reports. A colleague walks in with a stack of papers.)

HR COLLEAGUE
Vidya, we’ve received multiple complaints about Madhu.

VIDYA
(sighing)
Complaints? About what?

HR COLLEAGUE
(hesitating)
His…appearance during yesterday’s meeting. Some employees felt it was unprofessional. Others are…questioning his role here.

VIDYA
(frowning)
Unbelievable. It’s not like he broke any rules.

HR COLLEAGUE
Technically, no. But the situation is…unprecedented.

VIDYA
(leaning back in her chair)
Schedule a meeting with Madhu. Let’s handle this carefully.

---

SCENE 7: INT. MADHU’S HOME OFFICE – EVENING
(Madhu sits at his desk, staring at his laptop. He opens his email and sees a meeting request from HR. His hand trembles as he clicks on it, reading the details.)

MADHU
(inner monologue)
Of course, it’s come to this.

(He closes the laptop and walks to the mirror. His reflection looks tired, his makeup smudged. He unties his braid, letting his long wig fall loose around his shoulders.)

(He picks up the mangalsutra from the table and holds it tightly, his expression a mix of anger and sadness.)

MADHU
(whispering)
They’ll never understand.

---

SCENE 8: INT. HR MEETING – THE NEXT MORNING
(Madhu logs into the virtual HR meeting. Vidya greets him with a professional but concerned expression.)

VIDYA
Good morning, Madhu. Thank you for joining us.

MADHU
(nervously)
Good morning.

VIDYA
We’ve received feedback about the incident during yesterday’s meeting. While we respect your personal choices, some employees felt uncomfortable and…distracted.

MADHU
(interrupting, his voice shaky)
I didn’t mean for anyone to see me. My camera was on by accident.

VIDYA
We understand that. But the situation has sparked discussions about workplace professionalism.

MADHU
(firmly, finding his voice)
Professionalism? I was in my own home, doing my job. My appearance didn’t affect my work.

(Vidya pauses, taken aback by his conviction.)

VIDYA
Madhu, this isn’t about your work. It’s about maintaining a comfortable environment for everyone.

(Madhu’s expression hardens. The call ends with Vidya assuring him that HR will review the situation further.)

---

SCENE 9: INT. MADHU’S HOME – NIGHT
(Madhu sits alone, typing on his laptop. The camera pans to the screen, where he’s drafting an email to his team.)

ON SCREEN:
"To my team, I owe you an explanation…"

(He pauses, staring at the words, before closing the laptop. The screen fades to black.)
