Chapter 6 — The Daily Flower Ritual
After the temple visit, flowers were no longer reserved for special occasions.
Nandu began checking the online flower orders almost every morning. Jasmine remained Arjun's favorite, but she rotated the arrangements so that the routine never became boring.
On different days there were jasmine buds, orange kanakambaram, small roses or combinations of all three.
Maya became better at braiding. She could now divide Arjun's hair quickly and neatly, while Nandu specialized in arranging the flowers.
Sometimes they styled his hair together. Maya would braid while Nandu prepared the flower strand. Other times they would swap roles.
Arjun found himself enjoying the quiet rhythm. He would sit comfortably, talk about the day's plans and let his friends take care of the rest.
The three friends also changed their own outfits depending on the occasion. Maya experimented with different white and pastel looks, while Nandu moved between sarees and colorful traditional clothing. Arjun gradually built a collection of comfortable traditional outfits to match the long-hair style he had chosen.
One afternoon, after the braid was finished, Arjun stood up and turned slowly so they could see the full length.
Nandu smiled.
“You really never cut it.”
“I promised,” Arjun replied.
Maya laughed.
“And now you would probably complain if we suggested it.”
Arjun grinned.
The joke was true. The hair was no longer something he was merely growing. It had become something he actively cared for and enjoyed.
The friends realized that the adventure had changed in an unexpected way: they were no longer preparing Arjun for a transformation.
They were simply helping him maintain a style that had become part of his life.
