Chapter 1 — Two Orphans, One New City
Siva and Madhuri had grown up in the same orphanage, where friendship had slowly become the closest thing either of them had to family. After finishing their studies, they left for Hyderabad with two bags, a little savings, and a promise: whatever happened, they would face it together.
Hyderabad was louder and brighter than they expected. They rented a tiny room and began searching for work. Madhuri found temporary receptionist work at a small clinic, while Siva moved from shop to shop and office to office carrying applications.
There was one unusual thing about Siva that Madhuri knew better than anyone. He had always been fascinated by women's clothing, hairstyles, and the confidence he saw in women who seemed free to express themselves. He never knew whether it was curiosity or something deeper. Madhuri never mocked him. She only said, “One day, Siva, you will understand yourself.”
For the moment, survival came first.
Their room slowly became a small world of its own: two steel cupboards, one mirror, a borrowed table, and a balcony overlooking the city. They cooked together, argued about money, laughed about failed interviews, and encouraged each other after every disappointment.
Neither knew that one ordinary shopping trip would change both their lives forever.
