Chapter 1 — Before the Silence
Scene 1
Hari had always believed his future was easy to imagine. He was young, ambitious, and deeply in love with Priya. Their evenings were filled with ordinary happiness—tea on the balcony, arguments over movies, and quiet conversations about marriage.
Priya knew Hari's moods better than anyone. She also knew that he had a gentle, reflective side that he rarely showed to other people. She never mocked him for it. Instead, she made him feel safe enough to be honest.
One evening, Hari joked that life could change overnight. Priya laughed and told him, “If it does, I will still be beside you.”
Neither of them knew how prophetic those words would become.
On the way home that night, Hari met with a terrible accident. The impact left him critically injured, with severe damage requiring major surgery. More frighteningly, his memory became inaccessible, as though a door inside his mind had been locked.
Priya rushed to the hospital. The doctors warned her that Hari might remain unconscious for a very long time.
She sat beside his bed and whispered the same promise again and again: “Come back, Hari. I’m here.”
