Months passed, and Pradeep became more confident with hairstyles, feminine clothing, and matching accessories.
He could create a neat bun, a high ponytail, a fishtail braid, and several traditional hairstyles. He also learned how to match earrings, necklaces, bangles, sandals, and flowers with different outfits.
One morning, Aadya entered his room carrying a beautiful sky-blue saree.
"I have an idea," she said. "Let's go out together somewhere peaceful."
Pradeep hesitated, but eventually agreed.
Aadya helped him drape the saree, while Surabhi styled his long hair into a bun decorated with jasmine. Sushma selected a delicate necklace and matching earrings.
Standing before the mirror, Pradeep smiled.
"I want to try a name," he said quietly.
"What name?" Aadya asked.
"Priya."
Sushma repeated the name softly.
"Priya."
Pradeep smiled through tears. He explained that he was still exploring his feelings and wanted to use the name when he dressed this way.
Aadya hugged him.
"Then we'll call you Priya whenever you want us to."
That afternoon, they went to a market, bought flowers, and stopped for tea. Pradeep felt nervous when people glanced at him, but he was proud that he had taken the first step.
When they returned home, Sushma embraced her child.
"You were brave today."
For Priya, it was a day she would always remember.
