A year later, the family prepared to celebrate a festival at home. The courtyard was decorated with marigold garlands, flower rangoli, brass lamps, and strings of warm lights.

Sushma prepared everyone's favourite food, Aadya arranged the flowers, and Surabhi arrived with a box of sweets.

Priya stood before the mirror wearing a beautiful sky-blue silk saree with a gold border. Her waist-length hair was arranged in an elegant bun decorated with fresh jasmine. Matching earrings, a necklace, blue bangles, and a delicate bindi completed the look.

Aadya stood behind her, smiling.

"Do you remember the day I made two braids while you were studying?"

Priya laughed.

"How could I forget? Surabhi thought I was you!"

They all laughed together.

Then Sushma entered the room and gently held Priya's face.

"I used to worry so much about what people would say," she admitted. "Now I understand that my job is to love you and give you the courage to live honestly."

Priya's eyes filled with tears.

"Amma, I was afraid you would stop loving me."

Sushma embraced her.

"Nothing about your clothes, your hair, or the name you choose can take away my love."

Aadya joined the embrace, followed by Surabhi.

Later, they stepped into the courtyard together, surrounded by festival lights and the fragrance of jasmine.

Priya knew that life would still bring questions, misunderstandings, and difficult choices. But she no longer felt alone.

She had a mother who listened, a sister who stood beside her, and a friend who had taught her that kindness could remain meaningful even without romance.

As the lamps flickered, Priya looked at the people she loved and smiled.

She had once feared that becoming herself would mean losing her family.

Instead, she had discovered that love could make room for change.

A family does not prove its love by forcing someone to remain unchanged. It proves its love by giving that person the freedom to grow.

And beneath the warm festival lights, Priya finally felt at home.

The End.
