THE WEDDING THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
Prem and Neha's wedding took place in their ancestral village.
The entire village was decorated with flowers, colorful lights, and traditional wedding decorations. Relatives arrived from different cities, and the sound of drums filled the streets.
Prem wore a cream-colored sherwani. His long hair was neatly tied behind his head.
Neha looked radiant in her red bridal saree.
Their wedding was beautiful, but the most unexpected moment came after the traditional ceremonies.
Neha's grandmother announced an old family custom.
"In our village, the groom must participate in a playful household ritual. The bride's family dresses him in traditional feminine attire, and he serves the women for one evening."
Prem froze.
He had never been interested in wearing feminine clothes. The thought made him uncomfortable.
He quietly spoke to Neha.
"I don't want to do this."
Neha immediately replied.
"Then you won't. Nobody should force you."
But Prem noticed that the elders were preparing everything with excitement. He didn't want their wedding to become a family argument.
After a long discussion, Prem agreed to participate for a short time, provided Neha stayed beside him and he could stop whenever he wanted.
The women brought a beautiful traditional saree.
Neha helped him arrange the pleats and drape the pallu. His long hair was braided, and jasmine flowers were placed into the braid.
When Prem finally looked into the mirror, he was stunned.
Neha stood behind him.
"You look beautiful."
Prem raised an eyebrow.
"Don't get used to it."
She laughed.
The women cheered as Prem entered the gathering.
He served tea, snacks, and dinner. The relatives enjoyed the unusual evening, while Neha stayed close to him.
When the ritual ended, Prem changed back into his usual clothes.
Neha held his hands.
"Thank you for trusting me."
Prem smiled.
"I did it because I love you. But let's make sure our traditions never become expectations."
Neha promised.
Neither realized that the memory of this evening would return during the most unexpected period of their marriage.
