Chapter 26 — A New Reflection
Sowjanya began experimenting with her appearance again.
She had always enjoyed learning different hairstyles, but now she approached them with a new sense of confidence.
Some mornings, she wore her hair in a long braid decorated with jasmine. On other days, she tried a loose side part, a low bun, or a simple ponytail.
She also explored different outfits.
A mustard-yellow saree made her feel traditional and graceful. A floral kurti gave her a relaxed, everyday look. A sky-blue chudidhar reminded her of the first time she had felt comfortable expressing herself.
She learned to match colors, select accessories, and drape sarees neatly.
One evening, she stood before her bedroom mirror wearing a mustard-yellow silk saree with a magenta blouse.
Her long braid rested over her shoulder. She adjusted her gold earrings and looked at her reflection.
For a moment, her eyes filled with tears.
She remembered the years when she had been afraid to express herself.
Now she smiled.
"I do not need to become someone else," she whispered. "I only need to be myself."
Her reflection no longer represented a question.
It represented a woman who had survived, learned, and grown.
