Chapter 27 — Her Own Shopping Day
Sowjanya decided to visit the town market alone.
She wore a purple silk saree with a silver border, traditional gold jewelry, and a long jasmine-decorated braid.
The clothing store was filled with colorful sarees, kurtis, blouses, and neatly arranged innerwear.
At first, she felt nervous. She had once depended on others to help her choose clothing. Now she wanted to make every decision herself.
A friendly shop assistant greeted her and offered help.
Sowjanya selected several outfits. She chose a pink kurti, a green saree, and comfortable innerwear in colors she liked.
She asked about sizes and fabrics, learning which materials would suit her comfort and daily activities.
At one point, she stood holding a pink garment and considered it carefully. Her expression showed curiosity and a little nervousness.
Then she smiled.
She was not doing anything wrong. She was simply shopping for herself.
After completing her purchases, she returned home with a basket of clothes.
Lakshmi Devi's old wardrobe stood quietly in the bedroom. Sowjanya arranged her new outfits beside it, remembering her mother's encouragement.
She had learned that independence was built through ordinary decisions.
Today, she had made them all herself.
