Chapter 6 — Three Months of Darkness
Three months passed.
Sujan lay in a hospital bed, surrounded by the steady sounds of medical equipment. His injuries required repeated treatment, and his recovery was slow. Doctors explained that he would need extensive rehabilitation.
During this time, Lakshmi Devi visited whenever she could. She sat beside his bed, holding his hand and speaking to him as though he could hear every word.
"You are not alone, Sujan," she whispered. "You have a home waiting for you."
Inside his unconscious mind, Sujan experienced fragments of memories: the orphanage courtyard, his police uniform, the village roads, and the mirror where he had once questioned his identity.
When he finally opened his eyes, the room was filled with morning light.
He could not speak clearly. His body felt weak, and his memories came in pieces. Lakshmi Devi leaned forward, tears streaming down her face.
"Sujan?"
He looked at her and slowly nodded.
The doctors confirmed that he had emerged from the coma. His recovery would take time, and the emotional consequences of the attack would remain.
Sujan had survived, but he knew that the person who had entered the farmhouse was not the same person who had awakened.
His journey toward a new life had begun.
