Weeks turned into a couple of months. Nalini felt like a ghost in the house, a silent observer to a play she desperately wanted to rewrite but didn't know how. She adhered to the rules, terrified of causing Rohan further punishment. She left her bed unmade, her room dusty, knowing he would silently rectify it all while she was out or reading in the living room.

The most challenging aspect remained personal boundaries.

It was Sunday, laundry day. Nalini had carefully separated her clothes, intending to at least put her own undergarments into the washing machine when Priya wasn't looking.

She walked towards the utility room, carrying a small bundle. As she turned the corner, she saw Rohan. He was sitting on a low stool, a large tub of soapy water before him. He was wearing a simpler cotton saree, the pallu tucked securely around his waist, exposing his heavily padded blouse and the mangalsutra resting in his cleavage.

He was humming softly, a feminine tune, as he scrubbed.

Nalini watched, morbidly fascinated. He picked up a piece of clothing from the pile beside him. It was one of Priya's delicate lace bras. He handled it with surprising care, washing it gently with his hands.

Nalini realized with a jolt what the rest of the pile consisted of. It was all their delicate innerwear.

She backed away quietly, her face burning with embarrassment. She returned to her room, her small bundle of clothes still in her hands. She couldn't do it. She couldn't let her son-in-law wash her bras. It was a step too far into this bizarre intimacy.

Later that evening, after dinner had been served and cleared, Rohan approached Nalini softly.

"Ma," he said, his eyes on the floor. "I noticed you haven't put your delicates in the hamper for two weeks."

Nalini stiffened. "I... I will manage them myself, Rohan. It's fine."

"Ma, please," his voice carried a note of quiet desperation. "The Mistress... Priya was very clear. I must wash all the laundry. Every piece. If she finds out I am not doing it, or that you are doing it..."

He trailed off, but the implication was clear. He would be punished.

Nalini looked at him. Really looked at him. The thick mascara, the bright red bindi, the heavy earrings pulling at his lobes. He looked ridiculous, yet there was a genuine fear in his eyes, a deep-seated need to comply.

"I am ashamed, Rohan," she admitted quietly, the truth slipping out. "You are my son-in-law. This... this is not right."

Rohan finally looked up, his heavily lined eyes meeting hers for a brief moment. "I am not a son-in-law, Ma," he said softly, a strange resignation in his voice. "I am a sissy. I am a homemaker. This is my purpose. It makes Priya happy. Please, do not make it difficult for me."

He held out a plastic basket. "Please, Ma. Put them in here. I will wash them carefully."

Nalini stared at the basket, then at his painted face. She felt a profound sadness, not just for him, but for her daughter, who needed such absolute domination to feel secure.

Slowly, feeling her traditional sensibilities shatter into a thousand pieces, she went to her wardrobe, retrieved the bundle, and dropped it into the basket.

"Thank you, Ma," Rohan whispered, bowing slightly.

From that day on, a silent agreement was formed. Nalini stopped trying to hide her laundry. She would simply leave her clothes, including her bras, in a pile on the floor of her bathroom. She knew that every weekend, without fail, they would disappear, only to reappear later, washed, dried, and neatly folded on her bed, by the hands of her feminized son-in-law.
