Chapter 3 — Shopping, Styling and the First Transformation
They walked to a nearby festival clothing stall. The girls chose a sky-blue traditional outfit with a matching dupatta, along with small earrings, bangles and a simple bindi. They kept the style elegant rather than exaggerated.
Back in a private changing room, the transformation happened in careful stages. First came a comfortable base layer and the blouse/top fitting. Next, the pink saree was arranged neatly . The girls checked every fold so that Arjun could move comfortably.
Then they worked on his long hair. They combed it carefully, tied it into a neat braid and decorated the braid with jasmine flowers. A little face grooming, a small bindi, earrings and bangles completed the look.
Arjun kept looking down at each new detail, surprised by how quickly the familiar person in the mirror was changing.
Maya adjusted one final fold and stepped back.
“Now look properly,” she said.
